OAKWOOD VISITS TALLADEGA COLLEGE TONIGHT IN HBCUAC DOUBLEHEADER

TALLADEGA, Ala. – Oakwood University will try to gain some much-needed momentum for the upcoming HBCU Athletic Conference Championship today when it visits Talladega College in the regular season finale for both teams inside the Billy C. Hawkins Student Activity Center.

The women's game tips off at 5 p.m., followed by the men's game.

Men's Preview 

The Ambassadors will be without leading scorer and rebounder Jordan Bell when they take on the Tornadoes.

Bell, a 6-foot-6 junior forward from Mobile, sustained a shoulder injury last Wednesday against Voorhees University. He was averaging 15.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

Oakwood head coach Simon Jacob said Jordan Green will replace Bell in the starting lineup. Green, a 6-5 sophomore from Columbus, OH., is averaging 10.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.

Jamarkus Alexander is the Ambassadors' second leading scorer, averaging 13.6 points per game.

Oakwood enters the game 4-23 overall and 3-14 in league play. The Ambassadors are in last place in the East Division.

Talladega College is currently in second place at 18-8 and 11-6. The Tornadoes are in second place in the East Division.

Talladega College downed Oakwood 65-46 in Huntsville back on Feb. 1. The Tornadoes are 11-2 at home this season.

Corey Sands and Shaun Walker are averaging 13.1 and 12.0 points per game to lead the Tornadoes. Lamont Sams is averaging 11.6 points per game.

Walker averages 7.2 rebounds, while Sams is at 5.7.

Women's Preview

Oakwood will try to avenge a 72-59 home loss to Talladega College back on Feb. 1.

Since winning five straight games, the Ambassadors are 1-5 in their last six games. Oakwood (9-14, 7-10) is just 3-8 on the road this season and is currently in fifth place in the East Division.

Saniya Keys leads the way for the Ambassadors, leading the league in scoring (19.1) and rebounding (11.2).

Trenisha Adams is averaging 11.6 points and 4.3 rebounds.

Talladega College (9-11, 9-8) is currently in third place in the East Division.

Kameron Jones is averaging 10.6 points and 4.5 rebounds, while DeJaria Lewis is averaging 10 points and 8.9 rebounds.
