Simon Jacob is entering his 12th season as the men’s basketball coach at Oakwood University.
During that time, Jacob has transformed the Ambassadors into one of the best small college programs in the country. Oakwood has won two United States Collegiate Athletic Association national champions over the last 10 years, including two under Jacob, and was the runner-up in 2018.
COACHING CAREER
Jacob began his career as the middle school coach at Oakwood Adventist Academy in 2004. Three years later, he moved up to the head varsity coach position for two seasons. After that, Jacob became an assistant with the Oakwood University men’s team from 2009-2014, helping the Ambassadors win their first USCAA national championship in 2012.
Jacob moved over to women’s side for one year, serving as head coach during the 2014-2015 season. The next year he was named the men’s coach at Oakwood.
PLAYING CAREER
Jacob played one year at Oakwood during the 1986-1987 season.
FAMILY
Jacob and his wife, Teresa, are the proud parents of two children, Brianna and Simon, Jr.
