OAKWOOD COMES UP SHORT AGAINST STILLMAN ON SENIOR NIGHT

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Oakwood University, down by as many as 16 points with less than 10 minutes left Saturday night against Stillman College, battled back to make a game of it.

The Ambassadors chipped away at the lead and pulled within two points on two different occasions in the final 17 seconds, but couldn't complete the comeback as the Tigers made four free throws in the final 13 seconds to come away with a 63-59 victory on Senior Night in an HBCU Athletic Conference game inside Ashby Auditorium.

The loss dropped Oakwood to 6-14 overall and 4-6 in league play. Stillman improved to 14-9 and 9-2 with the season sweep.

Joshua Barnett's 3-pointer with 40 seconds remaining, part of a 20-7 Oakwood run, pulled the Ambassadors within 57-54. Later, Damon Fann's 3-pointer with 17 seconds left made it 59-57 and after Stillman made two free throws to make it 61-57, Jason Griffin hit a jumper to pull Oakwood within 61-59 with nine seconds left, but the Ambassadors couldn't get any closer.
