JACKSON'S BIG BUCKET IN OVERTIME HELPS OAKWOOD OUTLAST TOUGALOO

TOUGALOO, Miss. – Chase Jackson's 3-pointer with just over two minutes left in overtime gave Oakwood University the lead for good and the Ambassadors went on to beat Tougaloo College Thursday night 74-69 inside the Owens Health and Wellness Center & Kroger Gymnasium.
 
Oakwood was down 51-42 with just under nine minutes remaining in regulation, but the Ambassadors used a 19-10 run to force the extra period on Joshua Barnett's free throw with five seconds left.
 
The Ambassadors outscored the Bulldogs 13-8 in overtime to pull out the victory. After Jackson's 3-pointer gave Oakwood the lead for good, Tougaloo never got closer than three points the rest of the way.

 
Oakwood improved to 7-14 overall with the win. Tougaloo fell to 14-8.
 
Barnett led the Ambassadors with 18 points and seven rebounds.
 
Grener Polynice finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals.
 
Jackson had 14 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Jordan Hill scored 13 points.
 
Oakwood shot 42.4 percent (28-of-66) from the field, including 22.2 percent (4-of-18) from 3-point range, and 53.8 percent (14-of-26) from the free throw line.
 
Jordan Ealey led four Bulldogs in double figures with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
 
Jagger Young finished with 15 points, while Antonio Patterson and Tyler Hudson scored 13 and 12 points, respectively.
 
Tougaloo shot 41.3 percent (26-of-63) from the field and 77.3 percent (17-of-22) from the charity stripe. The Bulldogs were 0-of-10 from beyond the arc.
 
Oakwood will play the University of the Virgin Islands today at 2 in New Orleans.
