OAKWOOD OUTLASTS VOORHEES TO SNAP THREE-GAME LOSING STREAK

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Oakwood University snapped its three-game losing streak Saturday night by outlasting Voorhees University 80-72 in an HBCU Athletic Conference game inside Ashby Auditorium.

The win lifted the Ambassadors to 5-12 overall and 3-4 in league play. The Tigers fell to 6-12 and 3-3.

Joshua Barnett led three Oakwood players in double figures with 23 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range. He was also 11-of-13 from the free throw line and pulled down eight rebounds.

Naftal Morara backed Barnett with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting. He also grabbed four rebounds.

Jordan Bell finished with a double-double, scoring 13 points, while pulling down 11 rebounds. He also had three steals, three blocks and two assists.

The Ambassadors shot 45.3 percent (24-of-53) from the field, including 35.3 percent (6-of-17) from beyond the arc, and 65 percent (26-of-40) from the charity stripe.

Gary Davis Jr. led Voorhees with 18 points. Xavier Finney and Daethan Harris finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Tigers shot 38.5 percent (29-of-65) from the field, including 27.3 percent (3-of-11) from 3-point range, and 61.3 percent (19-of-31) from the free throw line.

Oakwood is at Stillman College Tuesday night.
