OAKWOOD MEN IN NEW ORLEANS TO FACE SUNO AND DILLARD

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Oakwood University will try to snap its 10-game losing streak tonight when it visits Southern University of New Orleans in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference game at 7.

The Ambassadors enter the contest 1-21 overall and 1-12 in league play. The Knights are 6-20 and 6-9.

SUNO won the first meeting 76-61 as freshman phenom Jamal Gibson scored 25 points, grabbed 25 rebounds and had eight blocks. Isaiah Lewis finished with 14 points, while Taj Gilyot and Devin Daniels scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Knights outrebounded the Ambassadors 64-35, including 24-10 on the offensive end, and finished with 48 points in the paint.

Ryan Anderson led Oakwood with 11 points.

The Ambassadors are led by Judelin Prophete, who leads the team in scoring (11.6), rebounding (7.2), assists (31) and blocks (58).

Gibson is averaging 20.2 points, 16 rebounds and has 59 blocks.

After tonight's game, Oakwood visits Dillard University (10-13, 6-10) Saturday night at 8.

The Bleu Devils won the first meeting 71-58, outscoring the Ambassadors 43-30 in the second half. Tory Cargo finished with 19 points, while Armond Williams and Mike Reeves scored 14 and 10 points, respectively.

Prophete, Brian Williams and Jaywill Thornton combined for 42 of Oakwood's 58 points in the loss.
