OAKWOOD VISITS STILLMAN IN HOPES OF SNAPPING NINE-GAME LOSING STREAK

TUSCALOOSA – Oakwood University men's basketball, still in pursuit of its first win of the season, will try to snap its nine-game losing streak when it visits Stillman College tonight. Tipoff is set for 7:30 at Birthright Alumni Hall.

The Ambassadors, 0-9 overall, are coming off an embarrassing 63-36 home loss to Talladega College Saturday night. The 36 points were a season low. The Tigers enter tonight's game 5-3.

Stillman downed Oakwood 83-62 back on Nov. 11 at Ashby Auditorium. Brian Williams (Colquitt, GA) led the Ambassadors with 20 points, but nobody else had more than eight.

Judelin Prophete (Miami, FL) is averaging a team-high 9.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. He also has 23 blocks. Nicholas Kennard (Nashville, TN) is averaging 8.9 points per game.

Stillman counters with forwards Marcus Bates and Bailey Talley and guard Antonio Jones.

Bates, a 6-foot-8 junior, is averaging 14.5 points and 7.8 rebounds, while Talley, a 6-7 senior, is averaging 12.6 points and 6.4 rebounds. Jones, a 6-4 senior, is averaging 10 points and six rebounds per game.

After tonight's game, Oakwood returns home Thursday and Saturday for a pair of Gulf Coast Athletic Conference games.

Oakwood hosts Philander Smith University Thursday and Wiley College Saturday.
