Despite all the success Oakwood University has recently enjoyed in men's basketball, there is one thing the Ambassadors haven't been able to accomplish.
That is beat Stillman College.
The Ambassadors (0-1) will try to beat the Tigers (0-0) for the first time in 10 tries tonight at Ashby Auditorium. Tipoff is set for 8.
"We've never beaten Stillman," Oakwood men's basketball coach
Simon Jacob. "We've come close a couple of times, but we've never been able to beat them."
Stillman is 9-0 all-time against Oakwood.
The Ambassadors are coming off of a 90-82 loss at Washington Adventist University on Saturday night.
Nicholas Kennard led Oakwood with 18 points, while Chris Davis finished with 12 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks. Bryan Williams had 10 points, five rebounds, six assists and four steals.
The Ambassadors hurt themselves by committing 28 turnovers, which Washington Adventist converted into 30 points.
Prior to the men's game, the Lady Ambassadors (0-1) and the Lady Tigers (0-0) will play at 6.
The Oakwood women, who are also 0-9 all-time against Stillman, are coming off of a 71-66 home loss to Talladega College Saturday night.
Nekaya Williams led the Ambassadors with 19 points, while Hannah Cohn finished with 12.
One of Stillman's top players is junior guard/forward Farrah Pearson, a former Hazel Green High School star. Pearson started a number of games the last two years at Alabama State University.
