OU MBB SENIOR NIGHT 2026

SENIOR NIGHT

BELL AND COMPANY READY TO GO OUT IN STYLE AS STILLMAN COMES TO TOWN

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Jordan Bell had no idea what sport he wanted to play in college.

Back home in Mobile, Bell was on the verge of becoming a two-sport star at Williamson High School, where he was a wide receiver/outside linebacker on the football team and a forward on the basketball team.

Going into his junior year, Bell's football coach at the time asked him to make a choice. He wanted to continue to play both sports. Unfortunately, Bell was told he couldn't play on the football team.

"I had played football my whole life," Bell said. "I didn't understand why I couldn't play both sports."

Instead of feeling sorry for himself, Bell put all his time and energy into basketball.

Fortunately, it paid off.

Bell led Williamson to a 4A state championship and earned Most Valuable Player honors for his play. In addition to that, he earned All-State honors and played in the Alabama/Mississippi All-Star game.

"Getting kicked off the football team was probably a blessing in disguise," Bell said.

Bell signed with Bevill State and spent one year there before moving on to Stillman College.

After Stillman, Bell came to Huntsville, where he is now starring for Oakwood University.

A 6-foot-4 senior forward, Bell leads the team in scoring (19.0), rebounding (6.4) and blocked shots (12).

"Jordan has been exactly what we thought he would be," Oakwood coach Simon Jacob said. "He's one of the most athletic players in our league. He plays with a great deal of energy and he's very competitive. He wants to win."

Bell along with fellow seniors Julius Mitchell, Naftal Morara, Fred Parker and Grener Polynice will be honored tonight when Stillman comes to town for Senior Night. Tipoff is set for 8:30 inside Ashby Auditorium.

The Ambassadors enter the game 6-13 overall and 4-5 in HBCUAC play. The Tigers are 13-9 and 8-2. Stillman won the first meeting earlier this month.

"We've had a difficult season," Bell said. "This good thing is we've continued to work. Hopefully, we can go out in style tonight."

Regardless how the season ends, Bell will go out in style in May when he earns his degree in Fitness and Wellness. From there, he would love to continue his career overseas.

However, if that doesn't pan out, Bell has another plan.

"I want to be a fireman," he said. "I want to help people."
