SENIOR NIGHT...OAKWOOD TO HONOR AROH, PERSON AND WILLIAMS IN FINAL HOME GAME WITH VOORHEES IN TOWN

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Oakwood University will host Voorhees University today in an important HBCU Athletic Conference doubleheader inside Ashby Auditorium.

The women's game tips off at 5, followed by the men's game.

Men's Preview 

Coach Simon Jacob will honor three seniors – shooting guard Steven Aroh, shooting guard Khari Person and small forward Brian Williams – prior to the game.

Aroh, a native of Old Tappan, N.J., has appeared in 21 games this season with 15 starts. He is averaging five points, two rebounds and leads the team shooting 78.3 percent from the free throw line.

Person, who hails from Lawrenceville, Ga., has appeared in 22 games this season with six starts. He is averaging 3.6 points and one rebound per game.

Williams, who is from Colquitt, Ga., has appeared in 12 games this season with eight starts. He is averaging 3.9 points and 2.9 rebounds.

"Those three guys have meant a lot to our program," Jacob said. "They have done everything we've asked them to do. It's going to be an emotional day. We would love to send them out with a victory in their last home game."

Oakwood enters the game 3-22 overall and 2-13 in league play. After today's game, the Ambassadors visit Voorhees Saturday and closes out the regular season next Tuesday at Talladega College.

"It's been a tough season, but we've got a chance to build some momentum for the tournament if we can get one today," Jacob said. "If we can get one today, that will give us some confidence as we finish up on the road."

Jordan Bell, Jamarkus Alexander and Jordan Green lead the way for Oakwood.

Bell is averaging 15.9 points and 6.8 rebounds. Alexander is averaging 13.1 and 3.5 rebounds. He leads the team in steals with 27 and is second in assists with 39.

Green is averaging 10.4 points and 3.6 rebounds.

Voorhees is 6-16 and 4-11.

The Tigers' best player is sophomore forward Keshawn Evans, who is averaging 17 points and 10 rebounds per game. He also has 40 steals, 26 assists and 24 blocks.

Women's Preview 

Ronnie Abrams' team will try to snap its four-game losing streak today when the Tigers come to town.

Oakwood is 8-13 overall and 6-9 in league play, while Voorhees is 10-11 and 4-10.

Saniya Keys, the leading candidate for HBCUAC Freshman of the Year, leads the league in scoring (18.5) and rebounding (11.5).

Trenisha Adams is averaging 11.6 points and four rebounds per game. Adams leads the team in assists (76), 3-pointers (64) and steals (44).

Voorhees' best player is Ty'Shemia Bunkley, who is averaging 11 points and 5.5 rebounds.
