WILLIAMS NAMED FIRST-TEAM ALL GCAC

TUSCALOOSA – Oakwood University point guard Nekaya Williams was named to the first team All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference squad league officials announced Friday during the 2024 Hope Credit Union Women's Championship.
 
A sophomore from Atlanta, GA., Williams led the team in scoring (15.5), rebounding (5.5), assists (3.5), blocks (14) and minutes (34.4).
 
She helped Oakwood reach the 10-win mark for the first time in school history as the Ambassadors finished 10-19 after falling to Dillard University 80-72 Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals.
 
Williams was joined on the team by Fisk University's Maya Buckhanon, Rust College's Diamond Sweats and Niya McGuire and Dillard's Cassidy Lowe.
 
Williams was the GCAC's Freshman of the Year last season and was a second-team All-GCAC selection.
