OAKWOOD WILL TAKE ON DILLARD FRIDAY IN GCAC TOURNAMENT

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Oakwood University will take on Dillard University Friday at noon in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference 2024 Hope Credit Union Women's Basketball Championship at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa.
 
The Ambassadors, the No 5 seed, enter the tournament 10-18, while the Bleu Devils, the No. 4 seed, are 12-14.
 
The two teams split the season series.
 
Dillard won the first meeting 69-61 in Huntsville on Jan. 13, while Oakwood took the second meeting 64-57 in New Orleans on Feb. 17.
 
The tournament gets underway Wednesday with No. 7 seed Wiley College (11-15) taking on No. 10 seed Southern University of New Orleans (2-24) at noon, while No. 8 seed Tougaloo College (7-18) will take on No. 9 seed University of the Virgin Islands (3-17) at 5 p.m.
 
On Thursday, No. 2 seed Philander Smith (22-6) takes on the Wiley/SUNO winner at 1 p.m., while two-time defending champion and No. 1 seed Rust College (25-3) will take on the Tougaloo/UVI winner at 6 p.m.
 
After Friday's opener between Dillard and Oakwood at noon, No. 3 seed Fisk University (18-8) will take on No. 6 seed Talladega College (9-17) at 5 p.m.
 
The semifinals are slated for Saturday at noon and 5 p.m. respectively, with Sunday's championship game slated for 2 p.m.
