OAKWOOD HAS NO ANSWERS FOR HBCUAC DEFENDING CHAMPION TALLADEGA COLLEGE

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Oakwood University had few answers for two-time defending HBCU Athletic Conference baseball champion Talladega College Thursday and Friday at John Hunt Park.

The Tornadoes swept the three-game series, winning 15-1 and 11-1 on Thursday and then won Friday's finale 20-4.

The losses dropped Oakwood to 3-22 overall and 1-13 in league play. Talladega improved to 17-13 and 10-0.

Game 1

The Tornadoes led 4-0 midway through the second inning, but the Ambassadors pushed across a run in the bottom of the inning when Akari David singled and came around to score on Chance Jaubert's ground out to pull Oakwood within 4-1.

Unfortunately, Stanley Stubbs' team failed to score the rest of the way as Talladega won easily.

David, Jordan Jennings, Jamison Green and Caleb Edmondson had one hit apiece for Oakwood.

Carson Nelms (1-5) took the loss, allowing eight runs, three earned, on six hits in four innings.

Game 2

Oakwood trailed just 3-1 after four innings, but was outscored 8-0 the rest of the way as Talladega swept the doubleheader.

Landon Bradley and Jayden Rolling accounted for the Ambassadors' lone two hits.

Eli Kennedy (0-5) took the loss, allowing 11 runs, four earned, on eight hits in 6.1 innings. He walked three and struck out four.

Game 3

Talladega scored 11 runs in the first inning and Oakwood never recovered.

Offensively, Terrance Carr went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and scored two runs.

Jennings, Green, Joshua Mack and Ahmad Wood had a hit apiece.

Dakota Cobb (0-4) took the loss, allowing 11 runs, all earned, on 10 hits in one inning. He walked two and struck out one.
