MONTREAT COLLEGE SPOILS STUBBS' DEBUT BY SWEEPING OAKWOOD

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Terrance Carr had two hits and three other players had a hit apiece, but it wasn't enough as Montreat College spoiled Oakwood University baseball coach Stanley Stubbs' debut Friday by sweeping the Ambassadors in their season opener 7-0 and 9-1 in a doubleheader at John Hunt Park.
 
Oakwood is now 0-2, while Montreat improved to 3-3.
 
Game 1
 
Carr and Matthew Gutierrez had a hit each in the opener.
 
Dakota Cobb (0-1) took the loss, allowing six runs, three earned, on six hits in 5.1 innings. He walked three and struck out three.
 
Game 2
 
Carr, Jamison Green and Jordan Jennings had a hit each for the Ambassadors. Jennings also had two stolen bases.
 
Caleb Edmondson (0-1) took the loss, allowing five runs, four earned, on two hits in 5.0 innings. He walked four and struck out four.
