OAKWOOD FALLS TO TENNESSEE SOUTHERN IN DOUBLEHEADER

PULASKI, Tenn. – Jordan Jennings, Matthew Gutierrez and Jamison Green had two hits apiece, but it wasn't enough as the University of Tennessee Southern swept Oakwood University Tuesday at Bobby Walker Field.
 
The Firehawks downed the Ambassadors 23-1 in the opener and took the nightcap 20-11.
 
Oakwood fell to 1-10 on the season. Tennessee Southern improved to 9-6.
 
Game 1
 
Jordan Jennings walked, advanced to third on a pair of groundouts and scored on a balk to give the Ambassadors a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
 
Unfortunately, the Firehawks scored 22 runs over the next four innings to win going away.
 
Jennings, Gutierrez, Terrance Carr and Ahmad Woods accounted for Oakwood's four hits in the opener.
 
Carson Nelms (0-3) took the loss, allowing eight runs on one hit in two innings. He walked seven.
 
Game 2
 
Oakwood scored five runs in the first inning and six more in the third and led 11-8 after three innings.
 
Tennessee Southern scored nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the lead for good.
 
Green went 2-for-4 with two RBI and scored a run. Chance Jaubert had a hit, an RBI and scored two runs, while Corey Levy had a hit, an RBI and scored two runs.
 
Jennings had a hit, an RBI and scored two runs, while Gutierrez and Herb Collins each had a hit and an RBI.
 
Caleb Edmondson (1-2) took the loss, allowing nine runs, six earned, on three hits in 0.2 innings. He walked five.
