GREEN SHINES, BUT STILLMAN TOO MUCH FOR OAKWOOD

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Jamison Green had two hits, scored a run and had an RBI and six other players had one hit apiece, but it wasn't enough as Stillman College swept an HBCU Athletic Conference doubleheader from Oakwood University Friday afternoon at Tiger Field.
 
The Tigers downed the Ambassadors 20-2 in the first game and 20-4 in the nightcap.
 
Oakwood fell to 1-8 overall and 0-3 in league play. Stillman improved to 7-5 and 3-0.
 
Game 1
 
Green went 1-for-2 with an RBI and scored a run in the opener.
 
The Ambassadors trailed 10-0 after three innings, but pushed across a run in the fourth inning to make it 10-1 and pushed across another run in the top of the seventh.
 
Oakwood finished with two runs on one hit, but committed four costly errors.
 
Carson Nelms (0-2) took the loss, allowing 10 runs, all earned, on eight hits in 2.2 innings. He walked four and struck out three.
 
Game 2
 
The Ambassadors trailed 7-3 after two innings, but the Tigers erupted for nine runs over the next two innings to win going away.
 
Oakwood finished with four runs on seven hits, but committed seven costly errors.
 
Green, Jordan Jennings, Herb Collins, Joshua Mack, Akari David, Matthew Gutierrez and Jaylan Sharpe all had one hit apiece. Gutierrez tripled and scored a run, while Jennings, Derrick Sanders and Caleb Edmondson scored a run each.
 
Mack, David and Sharpe each had an RBI.
 
Eli Kennedy (0-2) took the loss, allowing 15 runs, nine earned, on 11 hits in 3.1 innings. He walked three.
 
Oakwood is at Tennessee Southern Tuesday. The doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.
