STILLMAN DOWNS OAKWOOD IN HBCUAC OPENER FOR BOTH TEAMS

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Stillman College downed Oakwood University 10-1 Thursday afternoon in the HBCU Athletic Conference opener for both teams at Tiger Field.
 
The Ambassadors fell to 1-6 overall and 0-1 in league play. The Tigers improved to 5-5 and 1-0.
 
Oakwood failed to record a hit, but pushed across a run in the top of the third inning to avoid the shutout.
 
With two outs, Jaylan Sharpe and Jordan Jennings both reached after being hit by a pitch. Treyvon Jones reached on a throwing error by the catcher that allowed Sharpe to score that made it 3-1.
 
Unfortunately, the Ambassadors couldn't generate any more offense the rest of the game.
 
Corey Levy (0-1) took the loss, allowing eight runs, seven earned, on 11 hits in six innings. He walked two and struck out one.
 
Oakwood and Stillman will finish the series today. The doubleheader begins at 12 p.m.
