OAKWOOD DOMINATES RUST TO REMAIN UNBEATEN IN HBCUAC PLAY

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Oakwood University dominated Rust College from start to finish Thursday night enroute to an easy 83-60 victory inside Ashby Auditorium in an HBCU Athletic Conference women's basketball game.
 
The Ambassadors outscored the Bearcats in all four periods to extend their winning streak to three straight games.
 
Oakwood improved to 8-5 overall and 5-0 in the HBCUAC East Division. Rust lost its third straight game and fell to 7-9 and 3-2.
 
Trenisha Adams led four Ambassadors in double figures with one of her best all-around games of the season.
 
She finished with 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting, including a game-high five 3-pointers. Adams also had seven assists, six rebounds and three steals.
 
Saniya Keys and Morgan Bone had 13 points apiece.
 
Keys was 6-of-9 from the field and grabbed nine rebounds, while Bone was 6-of-8 from the field, including a 3-pointer, had three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
 
Kamaria Murray scored 11 points to go along with six assists, four rebounds, two steals and a block.
 
Oakwood shot 48.5 percent (33-of-68) from the field, including 41.7 percent (10-of-24) from 3-point range, and 41.2 percent (7-of-17) from the free throw line.
 
Talyia Cawthon led four Bearcats in double figures with 18 points. Unique Miller finished with 13, while Patsy Johnson and Genae Garner had 12 and 10 points, respectively.
 
Rust shot 33.3 percent (22-of-66) from the field, including 15.4 percent (4-of-26) from beyond the arc, and 48 percent (12-of-25) from the charity stripe.
 
Oakwood hosts Southeastern Baptist College Tuesday at 6.
