OAKWOOD RUNS WINNING STREAK TO FOUR STRAIGHT GAMES AFTER BLOWING OUT SOUTHEASTERN BAPTIST

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Oakwood University extended its winning streak to four straight games Tuesday night with a dominating 87-45 victory over Southeastern Baptist College in a women's non-conference game inside Ashby Auditorium.
 
Oakwood improved to 9-5 on the season with the win. Southeastern Baptist fell to 1-13.
 
Jay'Lenia Thomas led four Ambassadors in double figures with 19 points on 9-of-15 shooting.
 
Trenisha Adams, who joined the 1,000-point club last week against Rust College and was honored before Tuesday's game, finished with 14 points, two rebounds and three assists.
 
Maliyah Hughes and Lydia Josiah scored 10 points apiece for Oakwood.
 
The Ambassadors led by as many as 48 points at 69-21 on a layup by Hughes with just over three minutes left in the third period. Twelve of Oakwood's 13 players scored against the Chargers.
 
Oakwood shot 48.6 percent (34-of-70) from the field, including 45 percent (9-of-20) from 3-point range, and 66.7 percent (10-of-15) from the free throw line.
 
Southeastern Baptist was led by Jakiyah Ashford and Nadia Bates, who finished with 13 points apiece.
 
The Chargers shot 33.3 percent (17-of-51) from the field, including 40 percent (10-of-25) from beyond the arc, and 16.7 percent (1-of-6) from the charity stripe.
 
Oakwood hosts Talladega College Thursday at 5 p.m. in an HBCU Athletic Conference game.
