OU WBB SENIORS 2026

SENIOR NIGHT

ADAMS AND COMPANY READY TO GO OUT IN STYLE AS STILLMAN COMES TO TOWN

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Ronnie Abrams was mesmerized the first time he saw Trenisha Adams shoot a basketball.

Five years ago, Abrams, then an assistant coach with the women's basketball program at Oakwood University, went to watch Adams, who was then a rising senior at Rome (Ga.) High School.

He couldn't believe his eyes.

"She was an amazing shooter," Abrams recalled after watching Adams. "She was shooting the ball from the volleyball line. She was the best shooter I had ever seen besides me."

Abrams, now in his third season as the Ambassadors' head coach, was a terrific shooter during his playing days at Oakwood, where he was a two-time All-American. Under his tutelage, Adams has reached that status.

A 5-foot-5 senior guard, Adams is enjoying her best season in an Oakwood uniform.

She leads the HBCU Athletic Conference in 3-point field goal percentage (46.1) on 70-of-152 attempts, is fifth in scoring at 16 points per game and is third in assists (3.3) and steals (2.7) per game.

More importantly, Adams has Oakwood primed to win its first HBCUAC East Division title.

The Ambassadors, 12-6 overall and 8-1 in league play, currently lead the East Division with three conference games remaining.

Oakwood will celebrate Senior Night tonight as Stillman College (10-8, 7-3) invades Ashby Auditorium. Tipoff is 6:30.

Adams will be honored along with Jakyla Diawara, Brittney Howell, Madison McDonald and Alecia Reasor.

"This is a really important game," said Adams, who picked Oakwood over Middle Georgia College and Agnes Scott College. "We were ranked last our first year and sixth our second year and now we're No. 1. We've gradually gotten better and now we've got a chance to win a division title."

While winning a title is important, Adams has won simply by coming to Oakwood.

She will be the first person in her family to graduate from college in May with a degree in Health Sciences in hopes of going on to Physical Therapy school. In addition to that, Adams became a Christian a year ago.

"This experience has been more than I expected," Adams said. "I got closer to God here. I got baptized at Oakwood Church. I've been able to fulfill a lot of my goals and dreams here."

That's what Abrams envisioned for Adams when he recruited her.

"She's developed into of the best players to ever come through the school and she's one of the best people to come through here as well," Abrams said. "I really believe she's got a chance to be Player of the Year.

"It's a credit to her and her family. We've been fortunate to have her here the last four years."
