STILLMAN SNAPS OAKWOOD'S SIX-GAME WIN STREAK, HANDS AMBASSADORS FIRST LEAGUE LOSS

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Oakwood University's six-game winning streak came to an end Tuesday night as Stillman College dominated the second half enroute to a 52-42 HBCU Athletic Conference victory in a women's basketball game inside Birthright Alumni Hall.
 
The Ambassadors led 28-23 at intermission behind 14 points from Trenisha Adams, but Oakwood was outscored 29-14 over the last two periods, going 6-of-33 from the field, as the Tigers came from behind to hand Ronnie Abrams' team its first loss in league play.
 
Oakwood fell to 11-6 overall and 7-1 in league play. Stillman improved to 8-7 and 5-2.
 
Adams led the Ambassadors with 18 points, but managed only four in the last two periods.
 
She was 8-of-13 from the field, including 2-of-6 from 3-point range, and had five steals, three rebounds and two assists.
 
Nobody else had more than seven points. Saniya Keys, the reigning HBCUAC Player of the Year, managed just one point and was 0-of-13 from the field.
 
Oakwood shot just 26.6 percent (17-of-64) from field, including 9.1 percent (2-of-22) from 3-point range, and 60 percent (6-of-10) from the free throw line.
 
Jordan Harris led three Stillman players in double figures with 15 points. Mya Jones and Jaida Minter finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
 
The Tigers shot 35.5 percent (22-of-62) from the field, including 16.7 percent (3-of-18) from beyond the arc, and 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from the charity stripe.
 
Oakwood will host Wilberforce University Thursday at 6 p.m.
