OAKWOOD'S OFFENSE STALLS AGAINST FLORiDA NATIONAL

HIALEAH, Fla. – A day after erupting for 19 hits in a doubleheader against Florida National University, Oakwood University couldn't duplicate that effort Thursday.

The Conquistadors' pitching staff held the Ambassadors to nine hits enroute to a doubleheader sweep, winning 13-5 and 4-1 at Ernest R. Graham Park.

Oakwood is now 0-6 on the season, while Florida National improved to 5-6.

Game 1

The Ambassadors fell behind 6-2 after three innings and never threatened the rest of the way in the opener.

Florida National outscored Oakwood 7-0 over the next three innings to take a commanding 13-2 advantage. The Ambassadors pushed across three runs in the top of the seventh innings, but couldn't get any closer.

Jordan Jennings led the way for Oakwood, going 2-for-3 and scored a run.

Tedrus Hamilton went 1-for-2, including an RBI-double, while Jorge Hernandez went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Jeremy Matos went 1-for-4 and scored a run, while Akari David went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Eli Kennedy (0-2) took the loss, allowing eight runs, seven earned, on six hits in four innings. He walked five and struck out four.

Game 2

Oakwood was limited to just one run on three hits in the nightcap.

The Ambassadors pushed across a run in the top of the fifth inning to pull within 2-1, but the Conquistadors scored two in the bottom of the inning to go up 4-1 and went on to complete the sweep.

Jennings, Ahmad Woods and Jayden Rolling had one hit apiece to lead Oakwood.

Matthew Gutierrez Dalrymple scored the Ambassadors' lone run after walking with two outs in the fifth and later scoring on a fielder's choice by Rolling.

Dawryn Coronado (0-2) took the loss, allowing no runs on one hit in one inning. He walked one and struck out one.
