OAKWOOD SWEPT BY DILLARD IN HBCU ATHLETIC CONFERENCE BASEBALL OPENING SERIES

NEW ORLEANS – Dillard University swept Oakwood University 3-0 in the HBCU Athletic Conference baseball opening series Thursday and Friday.
 
The Bleu Devils downed the Ambassadors 26-2 and 17-1 on Thursday and 16-0 on Friday at Signette Field.
 
Oakwood is now 0-9 and 0-3 in league play, while Dillard improved to 8-2 and 3-0.
 
Game 1
 
Jordan Jennings, Jayden Rolling, Jeremy Matos, Tedrus Hamilton, Joshua Mack, Matthew Gutierrez Dalrymple and Akari David all had one hit each for Oakwood.
 
Jennings and Dalrymple each scored a run, while Mack had an RBI.
 
The Ambassadors pushed across a run in the second and third innings and trailed just 5-2 midway through the third, before the Bleu Devils broke it open by scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the third and 11 more in the fourth.
 
Dakota Cobb (0-2) took the loss, allowing 26 runs, all earned, on 20 hits in four innings.
 
Game 2
 
Kyler Bradley, Treyvon Jones, Matos, Rolling and Dalrymple all had one hit each for the Ambassadors.
 
Jennings scored Oakwood's lone run in the top of the fifth to help the Ambassadors avoid the shut out.
 
Eli Kennedy (0-3) took the loss, allowing 15 runs, all earned, on 14 hits in three innings. He walked three and struck out one.
 
Dillard led 3-0 through two innings, but erupted for 10 runs in the bottom of the third to win going away.
 
Game 3
 
Jones went 2-for-3 and Jennings, Hamilton, Matos and Bradley had one hit apiece to lead the Ambassadors.
 
Akari David (0-1) took the loss, allowing 16 runs, all earned, on 13 hits in six innings. He walked seven and struck out three.
