OAKWOOD'S FIVE-GAME WINNING STREAK SNAPPED IN LOSS TO BLUE MOUNTAIN

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Oakwood University had its five-game winning streak snapped Monday night as Blue Mountain Christian College came away with a 100-42 victory inside Tyler Gymnasium in a nonconference game.

The Ambassadors fell to 8-10 on the season with the loss, while the Toppers improved to 11-8.

Oakwood fell behind 26-6 after the first quarter and never recovered.

Saniya Keys led the Ambassadors with eight points and 13 rebounds. Kamaria Murray finished with seven points.

Oakwood shot 23.2 percent (16-of-69) from the field, including 11.8 percent (2-of-17) from 3-point range, and 42.1 percent (8-of-19) from the free throw line.

Rebecca Walter led four BMCC players in double figures with 24 points. Crystin Guy scored with 15 points, while McKenzie Williams and Lindsey Murr finished with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

The Toppers shot 51.3 percent (40-of-78) from the field, including 25 percent (6-of-24) from beyond the arc, and 73.7 percent (14-of-19) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood visits Wilberforce University Thursday in a key HBCU Athletic Conference game.
