AGUILAR, FAIRRIS AND MORGAN STAR IN HEART-BREAKING LOSSES TO TOUGALOO

JACKSON, Miss. – Chris Aguilar had four hits and Jaylen Fairris and Ashton Morgan had three apiece, but it wasn't enough as Oakwood University suffered a pair of heartbreaking losses to Tougaloo College Sunday afternoon in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader.
 
The Bulldogs downed the Ambassadors 7-6 and 8-7, coming up with game-winning runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to claim the series.
 
Oakwood fell to 2-26 overall and 2-12 in league play, while Tougaloo improved to 10-27 and 6-8.
 
Game 1
 
The Ambassadors built a 6-1 lead through five innings, but the Bulldogs scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth and pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to claim the 7-6 victory.
 
Aguilar was 3-for-4 and scored a run, while Fairris was 2-for-3 with two RBI.
 
Morgan, Dylan Grigorius and Jayden Rolling had one hit apiece. Grigorius, Jorge Hernandez, Ahmad Woods, Rolling and Jordan Jennings scored a run each. Rolling had two RBI and Jeremy Matos had one.
 
Akari David (0-5) took the loss, allowing one run on one hit in 0.2 innings of work.
 
Game 2
 
Oakwood led 6-3 through five innings, but Tougaloo rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 7-6 lead.
 
The Ambassadors tied the game in the top of the seventh to make it 7-7, but the Bulldogs pushed across the game-winning run in the bottom of the inning to win the game 8-7.
 
Morgan was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Oakwood. Fairris tripled and had two RBI, while Aguilar and Matos had a hit and two RBI each.
 
Jennings and Grigorius had a hit apiece, while Jennings, Matos, Tedrus Hamilton scored runs. Grigorius and Anthony Brent Jr. scored two runs each.
 
Brent Jr (1-1) took the loss, allowing one run on hit in 1.0 innings of work. He struck out one.
 
Oakwood and Tougaloo will complete the three-game series today at 1 p.m.
