JOHNSON, FULLER AND HALLMAN HELP OAKWOOD SPLIT WITH DILLARD

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Katie Johnson, Kaley Fuller and Ashlyn Hallman combined for 10 hits and four runs and Sydney Arnett was masterful in the circle in the opener to help Oakwood University split a doubleheader against Dillard University Thursday.
 
The Ambassadors took the opener 10-2, before the Bleu Devils claimed the nightcap 9-1.
 
Oakwood improved to 9-19 on the season, while Dilalrd is now 8-14.
 
Game 1
 
Oakwood erupted for six runs in the top of the fourth inning to break open a 1-1 tie and went on to beat Dillard easily.
 
Ashlyn Hallman led the Ambassadors at the plate, going 2-for-4, including her first home run of the season, while also scoring a run. Fuller was 2-fpor-4 and scored a run, while Taytum Lowe was 2-for-3 and scored a run.
 
Johnson, Jana Morrow, Taylor Mancone, Sydney Arnett, Morgan Arbitelle and Alexis Copeland had hit apiece and combined to score seven runs. Mancone had two RBI, while Arnett had one.
 
Arnett picked up the win, allowing two runs on five hits in six innings of work. She walked three and struck out 10.
 
Game 2
 
Johnson was 3-for-3 with a double, but Arnett was roughed up, allowing nine runs on nine hits in six innings. She walked five and struck out six.
 
Fuller, Hallman and Arbitelle had one hit apiece.
