HOWARD, NEWBY NAMED TO THE 2026 HBCUAC SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

NORTHPORT, Ala. – Oakwood University placed two players on the 2026 HBCU Athletic Conference Softball All-Tournament Team, league officials recently announced.
 
Shortstop Jordan Howard, the league's Player of the Year and a first-team All-HBCUAC selection, was named to the team, along with pitcher Emma Newby, who also earned first-team All-HBCUAC honors.
 
Howard hit .400 in the tournament, finishing 4-for-10 and scored four runs.
 
Newby went 3-1 in the tournament to help the Ambassadors get within one win of playing in the HBCUAC Championship.
 
She allowed 19 runs, 12 earned, on 18 hits in 22 innings. Newby walked 19 and struck out 26.
 
At the plate, Newby went 3-for-13 with a pair of RBI and scored four runs.
