OAKWOOD COMES UP SHORT AGAINST TALLADEGA COLLEGE

OXFORD, Ala. – Oakwood University came up short Monday afternoon as Talladega College swept a doubleheader at Choccolocco Park, coming away with a 2-0 win in the opener and an 11-3 victory in the nightcap.
 
The Ambassadors fell to 11-27 on the season, while the Tornadoes improved to 11-21.
 
Game 1
 
Oakwood managed just four hits in the opener as Talladega College blanked the Ambassadors.
 
TiAnna Lawrence, Jana Morrow, Sydney Arnett and Taytum Lowe accounted for Oakwood's four hits.
 
Arnett (10-16) took the loss, allowing two runs on seven hits in six innings. She struck out four.
 
The Tornadoes pushed across two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and that proved to be the difference.
 
Game 2
 
Oakwood led 2-0 after two innings, but Talladega College tied it in the bottom of the third and added five more in the fourth and went on to complete the sweep.
 
Arnett was 2-for-3 and scored a run, while Morrow, Taylor Mancone, Ashlyn Hallman, Kaley Fuller and Anna Jones had one hit apiece. Hallman and Jones scored a run each, while Morrow had an RBI.
 
Arnett (10-17) took the loss, allowing 11 runs on 11 hits in six innings. She walked five and struck out two.
 
Oakwood is back in action Thursday at Cumberland University.
