JENNINGS, MATOS SOLID, BUT DILLARD SWEEPS OAKWOOD

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Jordan Jennings had four hits, including a double and a triple, and scored three runs, while Jeremy Matos had three hits, including a triple, and scored a run, but it wasn't enough as Dillard University swept Oakwood University 9-1, 6-3 and 13-2 in a recent Gulf Coast Athletic Conference series at John Hunt Park.
 
The Ambassadors lost for the 10th straight time and fell to 2-30 overall and 2-16 on the
season.
 
Game 1
 
Jennings was 2-for-3 and scored a run, while Erick Perez had Oakwood's other hit.
 
It was 0-0 through four innings, but the Bleu Devils scored three in the top of the fifth to take the lead. The Ambassadors pushed across a run in the bottom of the inning to make it 3-1, but Dillard scored one in the sixth and five more in the seventh to win going away.
 
Mateo Hamm (1-4) took the loss for Oakwood, allowing nine runs, eight earned, on eight hits in seven innings. He walked three and struck out eight.
 
Game 2
 
Jennings, Matos and Hamm had one hit each to lead the Ambassadors. Matos, whose lone hit was a triple, also scored a run, while Anthony Brent Jr went 0-for-3, but scored two runs.
 
It was 0-0 through four innings and Oakwood scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 2-1 lead, but Dillard erupted for five runs in the top of the sixth and went on to take the win.
 
Jorge Hernandez (0-2) took the loss, allowing six runs, five earned, on nine hits in seven innings. He walked two and struck out four.
 
Game 3
 
Matos had two hits and Jennings, Jaylen Fairris and Dylan Grigorius had one each to account for the Ambassadors' five hits.
 
Jennings, whose lone hit was an RBI-triple, also scored Oakwood's lone two runs.
Hamm (1-5) took the loss, allowing 13 runs on four hits in five innings. He walked six and struck out four.
