HERNANDEZ DELIVERS AGAINST WILEY COLLEGE IN GCAC SERIES

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Jorge Hernandez had five hits, including a home run, three RBI and scored a run, but Oakwood University was no match for Wiley College as the Wildcats swept the Ambassadors 22-9, 13-1 and 14-1 recently in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference series at John Hunt Park.
 
Oakwood fell to 2-24 overall and 2-10 in league play, while Wiley improved to 17-14 and 12-0.
 
Game 1
 
Hernandez went 3-for-4 in the opener, including a solo shot in the first inning, to help Oakwood take an early 4-0 lead. He also had an RBI-single in the sixth and a RBI-single in the seventh.
 
Tedrus Hamilton went 1-for-2, including a two-run homer in the first inning, to stake the Ambassadors to an early lead. He finished with three RBI.
 
Jaylen Fairris had a hit, an RBI and scored a run, while Dylan Grigorius also had a hit.
 
Akari David (0-4) took the loss, allowing 13 runs, nine earned, on eight hits in 2.2 innings of work. He walked two and struck out three.
 
Game 2
 
Ashton Morgan, Erick Perez and Hamilton accounted for Oakwood's three hits, while Ahmad Woods drove in Perez in the bottom of the fifth inning to help the Ambassadors avoid the shutout.
 
Dawryn Coronado (0-2) took the loss, allowed 11 runs on 15 hits in 5.1 innings of work. He walked three and struck out two.
 
Game 3
 
Hernandez went 2-for-3, while Grigorius and Chris Aguilar had a hit apiece in the series finale.
 
Oakwood trailed 2-1 after two innings, but Wiley erupted for three runs in the fourth, two in the seventh and broke it open with seven in the eighth.
 
Mateo Hamm (1-4) took the loss, allowing two runs, both earned, on one hit in 2.0 innings for work. He walked two and struck out three.
