OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION HELPS OAKWOOD BATTER VOORHEES

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alexis Copeland, Taytum Lowe and Jana Morrow combined for 15 hits, including a homer and a double, scored eight runs and had six RBI to help Oakwood University whip Voorhees University 9-1 and 16-3 Sunday afternoon at Ambassador Field.
 
All total, Oakwood battered Voorhees' pitching staff, finishing with 25 runs on 37 hits.
 
Copeland was 5-for-6 with two RBI and scored three runs, while Lowe was 5-for-6, including a double, had two RBI and scored two runs. Morrow was 5-for-7, including a homer, had two RBI and scored three runs.
 
Oakwood improved to 11-21 on the season with the sweep.
 
Game 1
 
Sydney Arnett, Taylor Mancone, Lowe and Morrow combined for eight hits, scored four runs and drove in four more as the Ambassadors whipped the Tigers.
 
Lowe was 2-for-2 with a double, scored a run and had an RBI, while Arnett was 2-for-3 with a triple, scored a run and had an RBI.
 
Mancone was 2-for-3 with a double, scored a run and had two RBI, while Morrow was 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored a run.
 
Katie Johnson, Ashlyn Hallman, Copeland and TiAnna Lawrence had hit apiece and combined to score five runs and two RBI.
 
Arnett (9-12) picked up the win, allowing one run on five hits in five innings. She struck out 11.
 
Game 2
 
Copeland went 4-for-4 with two RBI and scored two runs, while Taylor Lawrence, Hallman, Lowe, Morrow and Johnson combined for 15 hits, including homers from Johnson and Morrow, scored eight runs and six had RBI.
 
Mancone and Arnett went 2-for-3 and 2-for-4 respectively, scored four runs and had two RBI.
 
Hallman (1-6) picked up her first win of the season. She allowed three runs on seven hits in four innings. Hallman walked two and struck out two.
