OAKWOOD SWEPT BY TENNESSEE WESLEYAN

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Tennessee Wesleyan scored early and often Thursday and went on to sweep a doubleheader from Oakwood University at Ambassador Field.
 
The Bulldogs scored four runs in the seventh inning to take the opener 7-1, before exploding in the nightcap to come away with a 16-1 victory.
 
Oakwood fell to 5-17 overall, while Tennessee Wesleyan improved to 12-7.
 
Game 1
 
The Ambassadors trailed just 3-1 through six innings, but the Bulldogs pushed four runs across in the seventh inning to take the first game.
 
Ashlyn Hallman and Alexis Copeland led Oakwood at the plate, going 2-for-3. Taylor Mancone and Anna Jones had one hit apiece. Katie Johnson scored the Ambassadors' lone run to help them avoid the shutout.
 
Sydney Arnett took the loss, allowing seven runs on 13 hits in seven innings of work. She walked four and struck out four.
 
Game 2
 
Oakwood managed just three hits as Tennessee Wesleyan won going away.
 
Kaley Fuller, Jana Morrow and Arnett had one hit apiece for the Ambassadors. Fuller scored the Ambassadors' lone run to help them avoid the shutout.
 
Arnett took the loss, allowing 16 runs on 20 hits in five innings of work. She walked four and struck out one.
