JOHNSON, ARNETT, MORROW SHINE AGAINST CUMBERLAND

 HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Katie Johnson had three hits and Sydney Arnett and Jana Morrow had two each, but it wasn't enough as Cumberland University swept Oakwood University 4-1 and 13-2 Wednesday afternoon at Ambassador Field.
 
Oakwood fell to 3-13 on the season, while Cumberland improved to 10-2.
 
Game 1
 
Arnett went 2-for-3 with a double and Johnson went 2-for-4 and scored a run in the opener. Morrow had the Ambassadors' other hit.
 
Cumberland scored single runs in the second and third innings and added two more in the fourth to go up 4-0, but Oakwood pushed across a run in the fifth to avoid the shutout.
 
Arnett (1-6) took the loss, allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits in seven innings of work. She struck out a career-high 11 batters.
 
Game 2
 
Johnson went 1-for-3, including a double and two RBI in the nightcap.
 
Fuller, Morrow, Ashlyn Hallman and TiAnna Lawrence had one hit apiece. Anna Jones and Arnett scored a run each.
 
The game was tied 2-2 after two innings, but the Phoenix scored a run in the third, three in the fourth, one in the fifth and six in the sixth to win going away.
 
Arnett (1-7) took the loss, allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits in three innings of work. She walked one and struck out one.
 
Oakwood hosts Dillard Friday at Ambassador Field. The doubleheader begins at 12 p.m.
