OAKWOOD SUFFERS PAIR OF TOUGH LOSSES AT UT-SOUTHERN

PULASKI, Tenn. – Oakwood University came up short in a pair of tough losses Monday, losing to Tennessee-Southern 2-1 and 4-0 at Royce Hughes Field.
 
The Ambassadors fell to 3-11 on the season, while the Firehawks improved to 11-7.
 
Game 1
 
Jana Morrow and Taytum Lowe had the lone hits for Oakwood in the opener. Kaley Fuller had the lone RBI.
 
Trailing 2-1 in the fifth, Lowe and Anna Jones walked to open the inning. After Morgan Arbitelle popped out, Katie Johnson walked to load the bases. Fuller walked to score Lowe, but Morrow and Taylor Mancone struck out with the bases loaded to end the inning.
 
Sydney Arnett (1-4) took the loss. She allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits in six innings of work. Arnett walked two and struck out two.
 
Game 2
 
Arbitelle and Johnson had two hits apiece to lead Oakwood in the nightcap. Arnett and Mancone had a hit each.
 
Arnett (1-5) took the loss. She allowed four runs, three earned, on six hits in six innings of work. Arnett walked one and struck out one.
 
Oakwood hosts Cumberland University Wednesday. The doubleheader will start at 12 p.m. at University Field.
