SENIOR NIGHT - OAKWOOD WILL HONOR ALEXANDER, DIAZ, JACKSON AND MITCHELL TONIGHT

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Oakwood University will honor its four seniors tonight when the Ambassadors host Tougaloo College in their last game of the regular season. Tipoff is 6 at Ashby Auditorium.

Nariah Alexander, Mari Dortch Diaz, RB Mitchell and Denaj'za Jackson will be recognized before the men's game.

All four, according to coach Ronnie Abrams, have helped the Ambassadors in their quest to become a competitive program in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.

"They have helped us in our process of trying to make our program better," Abrams said. "Denaj'za and Mari have been here and we added Nariah and RB this season. Together, they have all had their moments in helping us improve our program and I appreciate the contributions they've made."

Alexander, in her first season with the team from Southaven, MS., has played in 24 games and is fifth in scoring (6.3), fifth in rebounding (3.2), third in 3-pointers made (24) and third in steals (33).

Diaz (Laurel, MD) has played in 13 games and has not only been a team leader, but a voice of calm and reason in the locker room, Abrams said.

Mitchell, in her first season on the team from Detroit, MI., has played in eight games, but averaged 6.9 points and 2.5 rebounds during her time on the floor.

Jackson (Flint, MI) has played in 21 games with 10 starts. She is averaging 5.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game, while being third on the team with 30 assists and fourth in steals with 22.

The four seniors have helped Oakwood reach the double-figure win total for the first time since the 2018-2019 season.

The Ambassadors enter tonight's game 10-17 overall and 7-10 in league play. Tougaloo is 6-18 and 5-12.
