WILLIAMS, JACKSON COMBINE FOR 31 POINTS IN LOSS TO RUST COLLEGE

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Nekaya Williams and Denaj'za Jackson combined for 31 points, but Rust College scored early and often enroute to an easy 83-43 victory over Oakwood University Wednesday night in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference game inside Ashby Auditorium.

Oakwood, which had its three-game winning streak snapped, fell to 10-17 overall and 7-10 in league play. Rust, which extended its winning streak to 11 straight games, improved to 24-3 and 16-1.

Williams finished with a game-high 19 points. She was 8-of-14 from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range, three assists, two steals and two blocks.

Jackson finished with 12 points, four rebounds, three assists and a block. The rest of the team managed just 12 points.

The Ambassadors shot 29.3 percent (17-of-58) from the field, including 28.6 percent (6-of-21) from deep, and 50 percent (3-of-6) from the free throw line.

Niya McGuire was one of four Bearcats in double figures with 15 points. Diamond Sweats, Karyn Ford and Amber Scott finished with 12, 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Rust shot 50.8 percent (33-of-65) from the field, including 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from deep, and 70.6 percent (12-of-17) from the charity stripe.
