JONES, LOWE RECORD TWO HITS EACH AGAINST STILLMAN

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Anna Jones and Taytum Lowe had two hits apiece Sunday, but Stillman College got the best of Oakwood University, beating the Ambassadors 3-1 and 10-2 at Ambassador Field.
 
Oakwood fell to 0-6 on the season. Stillman improved to 12-0 and is 4-0 against the Ambassadors.
 
Game 1
 
Lowe went 2-for-3 and Jones, Ashlyn Hallman and Katie Johnson had one hit each in the opener.
 
Oakwood pushed across a run in the fourth to avoid the shutout.
 
Jana Morrow walked to open the inning and advanced to third on a couple of groundouts. Morrow scored on a passed ball to pull the Ambassadors within 3-1.
 
Oakwood had a chance to get closer in the fifth after loading the bases with one out, but Kaley Fuller lined out and Morrow popped out to end the inning.
 
Sydney Arnett (0-3) took the loss, allowing three runs on six hits in seven innings of work. She walked two and struck out seven.
 
Game 2
 
Alexis Copeland, Arnett, Fuller, Jones and Morrow all had hits in the nightcap.
 
Oakwood pushed across a run in the third when Johnson reached on an error and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. After advancing to third, Johnson scored on Morrow's ground out to make it 4-1.
 
The Ambassadors scored their last run in the fifth after loading the bases with no outs.
 
Taylor Mancone grounded out to score Fuller to make it 10-2. However, with runners on second and third, Arnett struck out and Jones grounded out to end the game.
 
Lowe (0-1) took the loss, allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits in 2.3 innings. She walked one.
 
Oakwood visits Bryan College today 4 p.m.
