OAKWOOD VISITS RUST COLLEGE TONIGHT IN GCAC DOUBLEHEADER

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – Oakwood University will take on Rust College here tonight in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader. The women's game is slated for 5:30, followed by the men's game at 7:30.
 
The Lady Ambassadors enter the game 7-15 overall and 5-8 in league play. The Lady Bearcats are 21-3 and 13-1.
 
Oakwood snapped its three-game losing streak Saturday night with a 73-58 win over the University of the Virgin Islands.
 
Trenisha Adams finished with a career-high 29 points, including eight 3-pointers. Nekaya Williams and Denaj'za Jackson finished with 15 points apiece and Nariah Alexander added 12.
 
Williams, who missed Tuesday's game against Talladega with an ankle injury, leads the Ambassadors in scoring (14.4), rebounding (6.1) and assists (69).
 
Adams is averaging 13.5 points and 5.1 rebounds and leads the team with 62 3-pointers, while shooting 37.8 percent from beyond the arc.
 
Rust is currently riding an eight-game winning streak and is 11-0 at home this season.
Diamond Sweats is averaging 14 points and 5.1 rebounds to lead the Bearcats, while
 
Niya McGuire is averaging 11.3 points and 5.1 rebounds.
 
On the men's side, Oakwood is 1-20 and 1-11 in league play. The Ambassadors have lost nine straight games and have lost six games, including Saturday's 64-60 setback to UVI, by six points or less this season.
 
Rust is 8-13 and 5-9. The Bearcats have lost their last two games.
 
Judelin Prophete leads Oakwood in scoring (11.7), rebounding (7.1), assists (29) and blocks (56). Nicholas Kennard is averaging 9.5 points per game.
 
Khalil Browns leads four Bearcats in scoring at 13.7 points per game. Christopher Hood is averaging 11.5 points, while Xavier Evans and Catthadious Moore are averaging 10.4 points per game.
