FULLER, MORROW AND ARNETT SOLID IN OAKWOOD SEASON OPENER

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Kaley Fuller and Jana Morrow had two hits apiece and Sydney Arnett was masterful in the opener, but it wasn't enough as Stillman College swept Oakwood College 2-1 and 18-1 in a doubleheader Friday.
 
The loss dropped the Ambassadors to 0-2 on the season, while the Tigers improved to 6-1.
 
Game 1
Fuller went 2-for-3 with a walk and scored a run, while Morrow went 2-for-4. Alexis Copeland went 1-for-4 with an RBI, while Arnett and Anna Jones also had hits in the contest.
 
Fuller singled with two outs in the third and after Morrow reached on an error, Copeland singled to drive in Fuller to make it 1-0. The Ambassadors had a chance to increase their lead after Arnett singled to load the bases, but Taylor Mancone popped up to end the inning.
 
Arnett (0-1) took the loss, allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits in six innings of work. She walked one and struck out three.
 
Game 2
Katie Johnson and Ashlyn Hallman had Oakwood's two hits and Jones scored the lone run in the nightcap.
 
Jones reached on an error with two outs in the fifth. Hallman doubled to send Jones to third and she scored on a throwing error. The Ambassadors had a chance for more after TiAnna Lawrence was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second, but Johnson grounded out to end the inning.
 
Hallman (0-1) took the loss, allowing 13 runs, nine earned, on 12 hits in three innings of work. She walked four and struck out two.
 
Oakwood will host Stillman College Wednesday at Ambassador Field. The doubleheader is slated to start at noon.
