OAKWOOD HANGS ON TO BEAT WASHINGTON ADVENTIST TO SNAP FOUR-GAME LOSING STREAK

TACOMA PARK, Md. – Oakwood University snapped its four-game losing streak Saturday night as the Ambassadors hung on to beat Washington Adventist 64-61 inside The Pitt.

Oakwood had a 35-21 lead at halftime, but the Shock outscored the Ambassadors 26-15 in the third period to pull within 50-47. Both teams scored 14 points apiece in the fourth period as Oakwood came away with the victory.

The Ambassadors improved to 2-5 on the season with the win. Both of Oakwood's wins this season have come against Washington Adventist.

The Shock fell to 5-7.

Saniya Keys led Oakwood with 21 points and 14 rebounds in 34 minutes. She was 9-of-15 from the field and also had three blocks.

Trenisha Adams finished with 12 points and six rebounds for Oakwood. 

The Ambassadors shot 38.2 percent (21-of-55) from the field, including 21.1 percent (4-of-19) from 3-point range, and 56.3 percent (18-of-32) from the free throw line.

Amani Ball led WAU with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Bethany Fowler finished with 11 points.

The Shock shot 26.2 percent (22-of-84) from the field, including 15.4 percent (4-of-26) from beyond the arc, and 56.5 percent (13-of-23) from the charity stripe.
