TOUGALOO USES LATE RUN TO PUSH PAST OAKWOOD IN HBCUAC CROSSOVER

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Tougaloo College used a late run midway through the fourth quarter and then hung on to beat Oakwood University 83-77 Monday afternoon in the HBCUAC Crossover inside Dent Hall at Dillard University.

The Ambassadors trailed 61-59 with six minutes remaining, but the Bulldogs scored 14 of the next 16 points to take a commanding 75-61 advantage and Oakwood never recovered.

Oakwood fell to 3-8 overall and 1-5 in league play with the loss. Tougaloo improved to 5-6 and 3-2.

Trenisha Adams led Oakwood with 18 points. She was 6-of-12 from the field, including six 3-pointers, to go along with five assists.

Saniya Keys had 17 points and 13 rebounds. She was 6-of-14 from the field with two steals and a block.

Morgan Bone had 15 points and four rebounds. She was 7-of-11 from the field, including a 3-pointer, two steals and one assist.

Madison McDonald had 11 points and one rebound. She was 4-of-10 from the field, including a 3-pointer, four assists and a steal.

The Ambassadors shot 43.9 percent (29-of-66) from the field, including 42.9 percent (9-of-21) from 3-point range, and 47.6 percent (10-of-21) from the free throw line.

Brayland Ferguson led five Tougaloo players in double figures with 18 points and 13 rebounds.

Rodreckia Parker finished with 13 points, while Mer'Cades Miller and Morgan Williams had 12 each. Makaila Brown had 11 points and nine rebounds.

The Bulldogs shot 40.5 percent (30-of-74) from the field, including 37.5 percent (9-of-24) from beyond the arc, and 70 percent (14-of-20) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood is off until Jan. 3 when it takes on Philander Smith College in the Talladega HBCUAC Pod.
