KEYS, ADAMS COMBINE FOR 48 POINTS TO POWER OAKWOOD PAST WAU IN OVERTIME

Huntsville, Ala. – Saniya Keys and Trenisha Adams combined for 48 points, including 12 in overtime, to help Oakwood University outlast Washington Adventist University 86-76 Saturday night in its home opener inside Ashby Auditorium.

The game was tied at 51-all at the end of the third quarter and it was tied at 68 at the end of regulation before Keys and Adams asserted themselves, helping the Ambassadors outscore the Shock 18-8 in the extra period.

Oakwood improved to 1-1 on the season with the victory. WAU fell to 0-1.

Keys finished with a game-high 30 points and 18 rebounds. It was her second double-double in as many games this season.

A true freshman, Keys was 9-of-17 from the field and 12-of-18 from the free throw line in 34 minutes.

Adams scored 18 points on 5-of-11 shooting, including 4-of-10 from 3-point range. She also had six rebounds, four assists and five steals in 38 minutes.

Madison McDonald finished with 10 points, five rebounds and four assists in 25 minutes.

Oakwood shot 34.2 percent (25-of-73) from the field, including 18.2 percent (6-of-33) from beyond the arc, and 66.7 percent (30-of-45) from the charity stripe.

Isabela Lujan-Gonzales led WAU with 21 points. Bethany Fowler finished with 14 points, while Melanie Aguilar and Amani Bell scored 13 and 12, respectively.

The Shock shot 34.7 percent (25-of-72) from the field, including 29.4 percent (5-of-17) from beyond the arc, and 58.3 percent (21-of-36) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood will play Alabama A&M in an exhibition game Monday night. Tipoff is 6:30 at the Event Center.
