OAKWOOD LOSING STREAK REACHES THREE IN A ROW

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Oakwood University suffered its third straight loss Thursday night as Stillman College came away with a 70-60 HBCU Athletic Conference victory inside Ashby Auditorium.

The loss, the Ambassadors' third straight, dropped Oakwood to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in league play. Stillman, who won its fourth straight game, improved to 7-1 and 3-0.

Oakwood led 20-17 at the end of the first quarter, but was outscored 19-7 in the second quarter and trailed 36-27 at intermission. The Ambassadors never threatened after that as the Tigers stretched their lead to many as 20 points before settling for the 10-point victory.

Saniya Keys led Oakwood with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Nobody else had more than nine points.

The Ambassadors shot 36.4 percent (20-of-55) from the field, including 21.4 percent (3-of-14) from 3-point range, and 60.7 percent (17-of-28) from the free throw line.

Limaya Batimba and Lelia Henderson led Stillman with 13 points each.

The Tigers shot 39.7 percent (29-of-73) from the field, including 22.7 percent (5-of-22) from beyond the arc, and 50 percent (7-of-14) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood is back in action Saturday at Faulkner University. Tipoff is 6 p.m.
