KEYS, BONE SHINE FOR OAKWOOD IN LOSS TO FAULKNER

MONTGOMERY – Saniya Keys and Morgan Bone combined for 39 points, but it wasn't enough as Oakwood University lost its fourth straight game Saturday night as Faulkner University came away with a 70-61 non-conference win inside Tine W. Davis Gymnasium.

The loss dropped the Ambassadors to 1-5 on the season. Faulkner improved to 4-4 with the win.

Oakwood trailed 54-33 entering the fourth quarter, but the Ambassadors rallied, using a 22-5 run to pull within 59-55 with just under three minutes left on a layup by Keys.

Unfortunately, they couldn't get any closer and the Eagles went on to sweep the season series.

Keys finished with 24 points and eight rebounds. She was 11-of-18 from the field and had three blocks in 29 minutes.

Bone scored 15 points with four rebounds and four assists. She was 6-of-11 from the field, 1-of-2 from 3-point range and made both of her free throws.

Oakwood shot 43.1 percent (25-of-58) from the field, including 25 percent (4-of-16) from 3-point range, and 70 percent (7-of-10) from the free throw line.

Keyarra Scottland led Faulkner with 18 points. Dee Guinn and Sydney Steward finished with 17 and 12, respectively.

The Eagles shot 38.6 percent (27-of-70) from the field, including 28.6 percent (8-of-28) from beyond the arc, and 47.1 percent (8-of-17) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood is off until Dec. 4 when it visits Troy University in an exhibition game. Tipoff is noon.
