OAKWOOD FALLS APART IN EXHIBITION LOSS TO SHORTER

ROME, Ga. – Oakwood University played pretty solid through the first two quarters Monday night in 92-50 lost to Shorter University in an exhibition game inside the Winthrop-King Centre.

The Ambassadors trailed Shorter University 37-27 at halftime and felt good about their chances.

Then, the third quarter started.

Oakwood was outscored 30-7 in the third quarter and Shorter went on to an easy 92-50 victory in an exhibition game inside the Winthrop-King Centre.

Madison McDonald led Oakwood with 11 points and four rebounds. The Ambassadors' two leading scorers, Trenisha Adams and Saniya Keys, were held to nine points each.

Oakwood shot 41.9 percent (18-of-43) from the field, including 27.3 percent (3-of-11) from 3-point range, and 68.8 percent (11-of-16) from the free throw line.

The Ambassadors were outscored 26-6 in fast break points, 37-9 in points off turnovers and 60-22 in points in the paint.

Derrica McCall led four Shorter players in double figures with 23 points. Tiara Lewis finished with 21 points, while Tionna Baker and Tori Smiley finished with 12 each.

The Hawks shot 55.9 percent (38-of-68) from the field, including 20 percent (3-of-15) from beyond the arc, and 72.2 percent (13-of-18) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood opens HBCU Athletic Conference play Thursday afternoon at home against Fisk University. Tipoff is 5.
