ADAMS CONTINUES HOT PLAY, BUT DILLARD OUTLASTS OAKWOOD

 
Trenisha Adams continued her hot play Saturday night, finishing with a game-high 23 points, but it wasn't enough as Dillard University outlasted Oakwood University 69-61 in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference game at Ashby Auditorium.
 
The loss dropped the Ambassadors to 5-11 overall and 3-5 in league play. The Bleu Devils improved to 6-9 and 5-3.
 
Oakwood trailed 16-12 after the first quarter, but was outscored 20-9 in the second quarter and was down 36-21 at intermission. The 15-point deficit was too much for the Ambassadors to overcome.
 
Adams (Rome, GA), who has been playing her best ball since the break, had another very efficient night.
 
She was 8-of-14 from the field, including 5-of-8 from 3-point range and made both of her free throws. Adams also had five rebounds, two assists and a steal in 38 minutes.
 
Nekaya Williams (Atlanta, GA) finished with 13 points, six rebounds, seven assists and a block.
 
The Ambassadors shot 46 percent (23-of-50) from the field, including 46.2 percent (6-of-13) from deep, and 47.4 percent (9-of-19) from the free throw line.
 
Cassidy Lowe led Dillard with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Sydni John-Baptiste and Jordyn Rowe finished with 16 and 15 points, respectively.
 
The Bleu Devils shot 44.6 percent (25-of-56) from the field, including 33.3 percent (4-of-12) from 3-point range, and 62.5 percent (15-of-24) from the charity stripe.
 
Oakwood visits Rust College Monday at 6 p.m.
