OAKWOOD WILL TRY TO RIGHT THE SHIP AS SUNO COMES TO TOWN

Oakwood University will try to right the ship today when it hosts Southern University of New Orleans at Ashby Auditorium. Tipoff is 5:30.

The Ambassadors enter the game 4-10 overall and 2-4 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. SUNO is 1-12 and 1-5.

After opening the new year with a convincing win over the University of the Virgin Islands, Oakwood struggled mightily in Tuesday night's 68-49 loss at Fisk University. Now, the Ambassadors will try to notch a win over SUNO, which is currently in last place in the GCAC.

If Oakwood is going to get it done, it will likely lean on its backcourt of Nekaya Williams and Trenisha Adams.

Williams leads the team in scoring at 12.8 points per game, and rebounding at 6.6 per game. Adams is second on the team in scoring at 11.6 points per game and grabs 4.4 rebounds. She leads the Ambassadors with 31 3-pointers.

SUNO will counter with Jordan Harris and McKenna Harris.

Jordan Harris averages a team-high 16.9 points per game, while McKenna Harris is averaging a double-double, pouring in 11 points per game, while pulling down 10 rebounds per game.

SUNO's lone win was a 65-61 win over UVI on Dec. 9 to snap a nine-game losing streak, but since then, SUNO has dropped three in a row.

After today's game, Oakwood will be at home again Saturday against Dillard University.
