SENIOR NIGHT

CALDWELL, DANCY, LABOSSIERE AND VAUGHN READY FOR FINAL HOME GAME

Oakwood University will honor its four seniors tonight when the Ambassadors (5-20, 3-10) host Fisk University (16-7, 10-3) in their final Gulf Coast Athletic Conference regular season game. Tipoff is 6 p.m. at Ashby Auditorium.

Forward Jayda Caldwell (Huntsville, AL), forward Keiah Dancy (Detroit, MI), point guard Andisa Labossiere (Huntsville, AL) and guard Michelle Vaughn (Madison Heights, MI) will be highlighted in their last home game.

Caldwell will be appearing in her 18th game tonight and will make her fifth start of the season. She is averaging 4.6 points and 4.1 rebounds while playing just over 20 minutes per game. Caldwell had a season-high 11 points against Stillman College on Nov. 1, 2022, and a season-high six rebounds against Washington Adventist on Dec. 3, 2022.

Dancy will be appearing in her 21st game tonight and will make her eighth start of the season. She is averaging 6.3 points and 3.9 rebounds while playing just over 19 minutes per game. Dancy had season-highs of 20 points and seven rebounds against Tougaloo College on Jan. 24.

Labossiere will be appearing in her 14th game tonight and will make her fourth start of the season. She is averaging 2.5 points and 1.8 rebounds while playing just over 12 minutes per game. Labossiere had a season-high 11 points against Dillard on Jan. 22 and a season-high five rebounds against Southern University at New Orleans on Feb. 5.

Vaughn will be appearing in her 14th game tonight and will make her third start of the season. She is averaging 1.4 points per game while playing almost 10 minutes per game. Vaughn had a season-high eight points against Tougaloo College on Feb. 10 and a season-high four assists against Talladega College on Oct. 29, 2022.

In addition to women's basketball, men's basketball, men's and women's soccer and the volleyball seniors will also be recognized.

Oakwood enters tonight's game having lost three games in a row. However, the Ambassadors beat the Bulldogs 78-77 in the GCAC opener for both teams back on Jan. 8 in Nashville.

Nekaya Williams' free throw with three seconds left proved to be the difference. Williams (Lilburn, GA) scored with 20 points, while Trenisha Adams (Rome, GA) and Brittany Lawless-Sherrill (Goodlettsville, TN) finished with 18 and 14 points, respectively.

Williams is averaging a team-high 12.7 points per game, while Adams and Hannah Cohn (Decatur, AL) are averaging 9.8 and 9.2 per game.

Oakwood will have to contend with Fisk enter Maya Buckhanon, who is averaging 19 points and 15.6 rebounds per game. Buckhanon had 27 points and 16 rebounds in the first meeting.
