OAKWOOD STRUGGLES MIGHTILY IN LOPSIDED LOSS TO STILLMAN COLLEGE

TUSCALOOSA – Three days after playing arguably its best game of the season in a dominating win over Talladega College, the Oakwood University women's basketball team played one of its worst Tuesday night.

The Ambassadors struggled mightily and Stillman College took advantage enroute to an easy 72-43 victory at Birthright Alumni Hall.

The loss dropped Oakwood to 3-7 on the season. Stillman improved to 6-3.

Trenisha Adams (Rome, GA) led the Ambassadors with 11 points, while Nekaya Williams finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Oakwood shot a paltry 25.4 percent (15-of-59) from the field, including 19 percent (4-of-21) from 3-point range, and 53.8 percent (7-of-13) from the free throw line.

The Ambassadors also hurt themselves with 21 turnovers.

Stillman was led by Thaniyah Marks with 11 points. Farrah Pearson, a former Hazel Green High School star, finished with six points and five rebounds.

The Tigers shot 46.8 percent (29-of-62) from the field, including 39.3 percent (11-of-28) from deep, and 50 percent (3-of-6) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood is back at home Thursday against Philander Smith University and Saturday against Wiley College.
