HOT-SHOOTING ADAMS HELPS OAKWOOD HAMMER TALLADEGA COLLEGE

Trenisha Adams scored 23 points and three other players finished in double figures as Oakwood University hammered Talladega College 71-46 Saturday night in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference game at Ashby Auditorium to snap its four-game losing streak.

Adams, a sophomore from Rome, Ga., was 8-of-12 from the field, including 7-of-10 from 3-point range, handed out two assists and had a steal in just 12 minutes of action.

"Trenisha is one of our best shooters and she shot the ball extremely well tonight," Oakwood coach Ronnie Abrams said. "Hopefully, she can keep it going as we finish the first half of the season."

Nekaya Williams (Atlanta, GA) finished with 13 points, going 5-of-8 from the field, including 3-of-5 from deep, while grabbing six rebounds. Denaj'za Jackson (Flint, MI) scored 12 points on 3-of-5 shooting, including two 3-pointers, and was also 4-of-5 from the free throw line. Hannah Cohn (Decatur, AL) added 10 points on 3-of-7 shooting, including two 3-pointers.

Overall, Oakwood shot a season-high 51.1 percent (24-of-47) from the field, including 60.9 percent (14-of-23) from 3-point range, and 64.3 percent (9-of-14) from the free throw line.

The win lifted the Ambassadors to 3-6 overall and 1-1 in league play. Talladega, losers of three in a row, fell to 3-4 and 1-2.
